Public Thanks

From: Lisa (LisMax1128@aol.com) | Date: 2004-08-24 15:20:04 UTC
I really like the idea of public thanks. You can easily do it without
mentioning the finders name. They'll know who they are and if they
want to be acknowledged, they'll reply.

For instance:
I got a report from a boxer today regarding my "Catch a Falling Star"
letterbox. I just want to say thank you to the finder travelling
from UT. Also, to that person/people: I'm sure Garth wasn't
laughing, he was probably trying to tell you, "Go the OTHER way!!!"
to help you out! He was like that.

So there's my 1st public thanks!
Lisa
The Family from Mass

PS You can also thank last finders when you check on your boxes if
they are hidden well.

Hey, guys! For those of you who were not aware of my current misadventures,
this update is for you. (This falls into the "it could only happen to
Chrissy" category.)

On Sunday, May Eve, Donutz and I were in search of the Disputed Champion! We
found it! But shortly after, my right eye had an unfortunate meeting with a
tree branch. Being a Girl Scout, and born in New England, and raised in New
Jersey, I figured that I was pretty tough. But eventually it got to be way too
much for me.

When it started raining, we called it a day, and MayEve drove me back to my
car. When I realized that there was no way that I could drive myself anywhere,
she took me to the er, and then waited for me to be done in there.
Fortunately, it didn't take too long.

Then, on Tuesday, after being trapped in my house for two days, Music Woman
was kind enough to go grocery shopping for me and Mittens, and then stayed with
me for a little while before she had to go to work.

I'd do the same for either of you ladies!

Letterboxers make the best friends. :) Thanks to you both for all your
help. I couldn't have made it without you!

So glad you're feeling better, Chrissy! I agree! There are great friends in letterboxing who treat you like family!

Enjoy!

No prob. :-)

It's too bad that I had to go to work on Tuesday, or I could have
stayed to watch the end of the movie! Did you see it?

BTW... it was really nice to see you yesterday at the gathering and
I'm glad to see you're feeling better! The eye no longer looks as red
as Mike's (of Pointer Party) shirt!

Oh Chrissy, we ALL have categories like that! I seem to remember a
time when Bluebird snapped a branch back and hit me in the face, then
come to find out that there's a 1 inch twig stuck up my nose!

I guess I should ammend that, then, by saying that this is my third corneal
abrasion in five years, and that the first two were inflicted as paper cuts.

I should probably just wear a helmet and goggles everywhere I go...

Protective eyewear certainly does seem indicated! =) Maybe glasses w/plain glass lenses like Superman has to conceal his secret identity.

That's what friends are for! Anyways, the ER wait wasn't so bad...
I chose a seat near the heater which was very cozy, some outstanding
reading material (see Chrissy for details), and a window seat
overlooking the Ambulance Entrance complete with a few EMT hotties!
MayEve
(Making a mental note to get Chrissy protective eyewear for her next
birthday!) :)

Plain glasses won't help. My husband wears glasses
and he got a branch in the eye while boxing over the
summer. I don't know how he does things like that,
but some people are just hapless. (He also got stung
by a bee sticking his hand into a stump to retrieve a
box).

At least yours weren't self inflicted wounds!
I sprayed myself in the eye with bug repellent in the middle of a 2 hour hike. Luckily, my husband had brought an extra bottle of water. I flushed my eye out real good, but it stung for several hours afterward.

At least yours would offer - mine, between being
squeamish and modest, would never dream of asking such
a question, even for the betterment of his own mom!
